We will be mapping out various areas starting with Omaha.

• Areas already biodiverse

• Plots of land developed under the project

• Areas on the outskirts of Omaha that are wooded, biodiverse

• Waterways that could easily be transformed to connect more areas together

• ROW areas that could be transformed

• Areas owned by the city that could be transformed

• NRD areas that could be transformed

ROW’s (right of ways) can be tricky. There may be reasons they need to be free from trees or shrubbery. What could be done in these areas is plant grasslands or wildflowers for pollinator habitat and let them grow. They may get trampled by service trucks, but most of it would thrive or recover. This may be prohibitive for natural gas pipelines, but possible for electric ROW’s.

We’ll get working on these maps asap so you can have a view of our city’s ecological health.
